BTW, screaming at another driver, foul language and other examples of bad attitude are NOT measured by the device. Hard braking, jack rabbit starts, driving at more dangerous times of day, frequent night driving are the things most monitored. Pretty easy to comply, I'd say.

OK, in that case I'll reconsider it. Thanks for the interesting info and personal experience with the monitoring device.
Maybe my bad attitude is mellowing in my old age seeing as I haven't gotten a vacation by SI for a while now! ;--)

There is a parallel for healthcare. Some insurance companies will offer you discount if you wear a fitbit or similar devices and show that you are active enough.

Did you find yourself changing your driving habits? Did you not take a trip because it was too late?

Seems like a lot of hoops to jump through for $97. With the risk it could cost you several hundred.

I might consider it if there were some guaranteed savings.

I too went for the “self monitoring” option. They provide actual driving logs and ratings and it became very clear that my wife was the culprit. She is a great driver but drives with a heavy gas and break foot. The idea of gradually reducing speed or gradually speeding up is just not her thing :-(
