Nisbett [et al] discussed Arthur Jensens 1998 studies on sex differences in intelligence... They summarized his conclusions as he quoted, "No evidence was found for sex differences in the mean level of g [general intelligence] or in the variability of g. Jensen’s results that no overall sex differences existed for g has been reinforced by researchers who analyzed this issue with a battery of 42 mental ability tests and found no overall sex difference. Although most of the tests showed no difference, there were some that did. For example, they found female subjects performed better on verbal abilities while males performed better on visuospatial abilities. For verbal fluency, females have been specifically found to perform slightly better in vocabulary and reading comprehension but significantly higher in speech production and essay writing. Males have been specifically found to perform better on spatial visualization, spatial perception, and mental rotation. Researchers had then recommended that general models such as fluid and crystallized intelligence be divided into verbal, perceptual and visuospatial domains of g, because when this model is applied then females excel at verbal and perceptual tasks while males on visuospatial tasks, thus evening out the sex differences on IQ tests.-- so, there's some evidence that males are stronger in the visuospatial domain, which is related to math/physics ability, but not to a 1000-1 degree. if you have evidence of this, i'd love to read it. -tia-
