You are absolutely right! I fear Alex would not want to be our neighbor. Blue owns the neighborhood. But he's so big- 17 pounds now and all fluffy for the winter- and since we live on an acre and a half and he's too lazy to go much farther than that, it's not much of a problem. Neutered males become very fat and placid after a year or two. He is rather like an elder statesman now. The birds and bodies he drags in have been trespassing on his land, so he feels he has a perfect right to them; it's his duty to take care of these upstart marauders. Don't forget we live in a rural area-if we lived in San Francisco where you can reach through the windows and turn down your neighbors' radio, I doubt we would be so lenient. No one keeps cats in around here, although they are very good about their dogs.

OK--I'll play "my favorite songs of all time at least at this moment"--just so everyone can snicker at my selections.

Top 10 songs...

1) Doretta's Song from La Rondine-- (As performed by Kiri Te Kanawa)
2) Bridge Over Troubled Water-Simon and Garfunkel
3) Amazing Grace and Marieke- Judy Collins
4) China and Cloud on My Tongue-Tori Amos
5) Mozart's Exsultate, Jubilate-(performed by Kathleen Battle)
6) Nessun Dorma-Turandot -( with Pavarotti)
7) The hymn sung by the Men's Choir in Crimson Tide-I loved that scene when the sub is submersing
8) The Blue Album-Joni Mitchell
9) Jessie-Roberta Flack
10) Celine Dion's new album-which reduced me to tears on first listening-she's the only voice of the 90's I can stand-the others are too mechanically manipulated and enhanced, but she is a true artist.
11) Anything sung by a good boys' choir
