Leaving aside the fact that who voted for BREXIT were the less educated and poorer strata:

Looks like the people decided something and the politicos didn't like that outcome and have been trying to evade the peoples' decision without throwing away their democratic principles.

Meanwhile the EU wants to make BREXIT an example:.
Make it so painful to dissuade others from trying.
