I agree but I doubt that will happen. Too many fear primary competition. I think that fear will lessen as the year goes along and the charges against Trump get both more visible and more compelling. But not yet likely to happen.

If McConnell is to be the center of compromise work (and I doubt that--he is too willy and will stay out of it) it will be among his more difficult ones. Trump is much too unpredictable on this one. I think he's capable of agreeing to one, change his mind yet again to oppose, and so on.

There's a trap closing in.

The Senate sent the House a bill which passed by unanimous voice vote. Ryan didn't bring it to a vote. Pelosi should pass it, and send it to the Senate. Then she'll have to find enuf R's to get to 2/3 in the House.
