Marden; I'll give ya a straight answer. I don't make those kinda calls on the Internet. What I can tell ya is that my chart says the deal is goin' ta 51. What happens between here and there will probably be interpreted by others much sharper than I. I noticed that Gary got out of his Jan calls at a top, and there are a couple of other guys that are callin' the moves pretty well. It all depends on your strategy. BTW, I don't consider ASND to be a momentum stock right now. I believe it's a great value play. And it looks like there are a few fund managers that may agree with me. They can e-mail me with my check. :o) pete

Data Networking:
<sum> Bay Networks announced the acquisition of New Oak Communications for
approximately $156 million. New Oak is a leading provider of extranet
infrastructure, including extranet access switches and VPN solutions.
<sum> Cabletron announced the acquisition of YAGO for Cabletron stock not to
exceed 11.6 million shares. YAGO's routing switch product is about to
start beta testing and Cabletron expects to introduce the product in March-April,
1998.
Wireline Equipment:
<sum> Lucent Technologies announced that it received contracts totalling about
$100 million to build all-digital wireless networks for service providers in
Georgia, California, and South Carolina.
<sum> Separately, Lucent and Chartered Semiconductor announced the
formation of a more than $1 billion joint venture in Singapore to
manufacture integrated circuits.
Wireless Equipment:
<sum> Motorola has signed a contract valued at over $40 million with J-COM
Company, Ltd. to expand the iDEN system it operates in the Tokyo
metropolitan area.
<sum> NextWave, the largest C-Block licensee and fourth largest F-Block licensee,
announced that its new PCS network in the Las Vegas (F-Block) market is
about to begin testing, and commercial service is expected to be launched
later this year.
