max90,

Hi there. It's nice of you to join us here on the thread. I have some clarification about stocks referred to as GAT's. The main point is that they don't ALL go to 40. The main thing to watch for is the volume on such stocks. First a GAT will open above 20 when the previous close was below 20. If the gap is NOT closed and the volume remains strong for a reasonable period, it can be expected that the stock will move up to test 40. It doesn't play out in 1 week or 1 month but usually takes several months to get there. Another point to consider is that it is predominantly a bull market phenomenon. If the overall market isn't cooperating, the stock won't either. Al Greenleaf has a list of these stocks and if you ask nicely he may just give you the rundown. He's been a bit busy lately I gather so it will likely need updating.

The next 2 weeks are going to be pivotal for the market with verification of an 6 to 9 month downturn on the line here. The market isn't going to stand for much more bad news. If verified, I would imagine that any GAT that has reached above 30 but not yet reached 40 will become a good short candidate.
