PG&E announced it will file for bankruptcy after the required 15 day notice they gave today.

I heard someone (David Faber?) on CNBC say PCG used to be a "safe widows and orphans stock before it became a maker of widows and orphans" or something similar to that.

I should probably add the time point for the San Bruno pipeline explosion which led to PG&E being a convicted felon. I'm not sure exactly why, but I've never owned the stock and I am sure glad of that now!

FWIW, they declared and reorganized under CH 11 bankruptcy in 2001 following the energy trading scam that also blew up Enron. Us CA ratepayers ended up paying higher rates to cover the losses.
