Ref the catholic Church. The analogy regarding the Catholic church was that back in the middle ages The Vatican believed in the Geocentric version of the solar system as opposed to the Heliocentric version of the Solar System. They would repress (probably torture and kill) anyone who said anything they deemed as inviolate Thus lived Copernicus, Kepler, Newton, who all had to step carefully around the religious aspects of the approved sciences. Today the Vatican supports the CO2 version, a special CO2 theory within a geocentric version of Earth Climate change theory.
