The Vikings used to operate farms on Greenland. Up until the mid 14th century. As the glaciers have receded a bit over the past several years, they have uncovered the evidence of old dairy and hay farms there through archaeological digs. (It seems the Earth's climate has had a habit of changes throughout the ages. Warm up, cool down, and repeat. Built in recycling, perhaps?)
