That is the peril of trading in Nasdaq stocks. Unless there's a bid at your price, with enough shares there, you will not sell your shares.

The market makers have the right (and definitely do it every time) to screw you in this fashion.

So, it is very common for what happened to you to happen to anyone. My advice: trade NYSE stocks or just take it like a man (like I've had to do on many occasions in similar situations).
