Why is it so hard to imagine that humanoids from the beginning of time, and even today, wonder that there may be a higher power, other than just flesh and bone, especially considering the wonders of nature and the wonders and magnificence of life forms... to say that you KNOW without a doubt is a bit close minded.

Also, no doubt many downtrodden and persecuted people throughout history prayed to a "god" just to get them through the day, believing that in the end there is a good that overcomes evil.

As the book Sapiens, which we discussed, pointed out. There would be no advanced society, no civilization if we didn't believe in collective myths. For example, do you believe in a country? That's a collective myth.
It doesn't exist except in the minds of all the people who believe it so. It is an abstraction, an idea, but not
a tangible real thing. It's probably the biggest leap forward we took from the level of chimps.
