Anne,

Yes, there is a tremendous response to the low end PC out there. Whoever sells this CPU at lower price does have a tremendous advantage selling to the box-makers like Ali, Compaq, Dell, Gateway, etc.

As you may have noticed in the past year, Intel can drop the prices of their CPU-line in a brink of an eye. The question is not who is selling a CPU now at lower price, but who can produce this CPU at lower cost and how many pieces.

John.

Anne,

<<I have not seen crowds of customers in COMP USA since 1994. They were lined up 4-5 deep waiting for sales associates.>>

I went to the local CompUSA (new store, couple months old) last week to help a friend buy a first system. There was a good selection to choose from with AMD and Cyrix CPU's being well represented. The problem was with the "sales associates". For the most part, they were rude, disinterested, ignorant, and just plain uninformed about the products they were supposed to be selling. I'd be interested to know if this was a store specific problem or if this occurs throughout the chain. I know that I won't shop there again. Comments anyone?
