No. T owns DirecTV.... their DVR is inferior to that of of Dish since they don't have a 30 sec skip forward button... so hard to quickly get through commercials.
Not sure where this fits in, but I'm pretty sure T owns Dish.
DirecTV is the one that constantly hassles me at Costco to switch. I love Costco but am not a big fan of how they have paid placement promoters bothering me when I prefer to shop without having to return pleasantries with a bunch of sales people.

FWIW, Tivo invented the 30 sec skip forward and 10 sec skip back... DirecTV used to come with Tivo DVRs and I had it. They switched to their own crappy DVRs and I switched to Dish. Dish may license the technology from Tivo or they are tied up in court... but if Dish lost the feature, I'd look to going with TiVo.

DISH is still independent.
