I had written a really hot message in reply to both Yiwu's message and idea and Sankar but I toned it down.

On the brighter side Stitch let me tell you something I have been thinking lately. The greatest accident of the 20th century is that the English language seems to be bringing people together. In the 1940's the political "leadership" of the world passed from English speaking Britain to the English speaking US, and (now) the lingua franca of the internet seems to be English. How much easier to understand people in the world and not fight if you all understand the same language.

On another front we do seem to be headed towards world-wide asset devaluation and that, coupled with bad bank, consumer, mortgage, and international loans, seems to set up world-wide deflation. My anology of a circle of men all standing around with their hands in their neighbor's pockets seems coming true.

Interesting Sankar's posts about building a fire wall around Korea.

The next step will be not... that Americans are Asia-bashed but that we are all in this together.

If there is any comfort in this situation it is that people from a huge variety of backgrounds and countries are worried about the melt down here on this thread and are talking with each other. Even civily my pecksniffian asides notwithstanding.

Stitch: Just got a chance to read the message you wrote to Worswick. Since a lot of it related to me, so I think I should write something in return just for the sake of courtesy.

First of all, thanks for referring me as a person of "intellegence". I am flattered. You know most of Asians are modest. Second, please don't refer me as a "HE". I am a woman. I got a Phd degree in Demography from a US university, and now is working in the US. And if you think my comment is disturbing, then you have slightest idea how CIA is perceived in South America and in Asia. I am sorry to ever bring it up here on this thread. It is not a pleasant topic, apprently. I will stop right here. This is just one more lessons I learned about the so-called "freedom" of everything. But one thing I want to make it clear, after living in the US for 10 years, I know much more about the US than you thought I knew. Let's call it a truce. That you cannot convince me is as true as I cannot convince you. Period. Even though we live on a same planet, it seems we don't speak the "same" language.
Best.
