Is it because it wasn't sanctioned by the system? We need permission to kill a baby, we just shouldn't take the law into our own hands.

It seems that "someone" (society?) has differentiated between the meaning of life in the womb, and life outside of it. Isn't it just the extension of the discussion about when life begins?
