I didn't think so either, but it's all we have at this point. Supposedly they were submitted to banks to help secure loans. So banks typically do deep due diligence on financial statements, including tax returns, bank statements, and asset holdings to verify everything. Anyway, what I find interesting about Cohen's testimony is that even though on the surface it was anti-Trump, he's actually done more good for Trump than harm. He exonerated Trump by saying there was no hard evidence of Russia Collusion and he produced financial statements, true or not, that assert he's a billionaire, which counters the argument that he's a conman. All in all, it was just a circus and no real hard evidence other than that check was produced.
