Jim--

I agree. It's dumb to make people go to the doctor, or to a clinic, simply to get the flu vaccine. Here medical care in some respects leaves much to be desired, but on the other hand we don't have the insane medical malpractice suits that are unfortunately so common in the States.

The funny--and to those unused to it, disquieting--thing, though, is that doctors WILL NOT give one shots. They give you a prescription for the antibiotic or whatever, you go buy it at the pharmacy, then you go to the supermarket and buy syringes, and then you either do it yourself or call in the neighborhood Needle Lady (not making this up).

My first adventure shooting up left me with enormous respect for heroin addicts.

I wish you could get what ever prescriptions you wished for OTC. That way you and you alone can be responsible for it. If there are areas of medicine that you feel able to take a stab at it would be nice if you could. Perhaps there would not be so many lawsuits. In our town the pharmacies have provided the flu shots and had a nurse give them.
