Great! I wasn't speaking of you.... there was a guy on national radio that I followed for decades and was finally "retired" last year who is one I wrote about and tracked starting in the 1990s when he had a stellar reputation... until I dug into his real results. He screamed gift horse buying opportunity at the first 10% decline in 2007 and kept doing it from 1500s to 800s, gave up for the 700s and 600 then when the market recovered started the buy the dip game again with an 1100s buying opportunity and then bragged about it as the market went higher... all while recommending 100% in stocks for his aggressive and middle portfolios. His conservative portfolio was recommended at 50:50 but he didn't rebalance at the top when it was 2/3rds in stocks and he didn't rebalance at the bottom in 2009... he's doing it again now it seems just with paid subs.

You really need to do more buying and holding unless you want to miss breakout moves.
At the top I took my Explore Portfolio down to about 58%
At the bottom around Christmas it was up to about 63% or so...
I don't do more than about 5%. It is a bit higher now as my largest holding will be bought out for cash and stock so if you calculate the cash part of the holding... probably about 60% neutral.

I nearly forgot about this tracking page for the guy I was talking about with the once national show:
