Yeah, but he has absurdly low popularity numbers in the country as a whole especially given the employment numbers and the fact that the economy is still expanding. And more and more people are seeing that he is a blustery fraud who doesn't know what he is doing. His "base" is shrinking, just as the number of people who identify as Republican has been shrinking. Do you know why Trump is so popular with his base? Because (1) He delivers on what they want. And (2) He doesn't give a shit about you, me, or anyone who didn't vote for him. This 2nd piece is a neglected part of his strength.

Now if you want to vote for some wishy-washy Obama-like redux who compromises on everything so that he can be the president of everyone, then go right ahead. But that is not what I want. What I want is someone who undoes Trump's legacy as fast as possible and then moves on to implement everything that I care about. Such a person can never win any of RW votes and is the exact opposite of who you are asking for. Let's hope, fervently, you are wrong. That would mean the rather large numbers that have suffered in this economy and been suffering since Reagan was elected, will be thrown overboard. I'm looking for someone who will represent them as well as the Dem base and build toward a more fair and decent society. But then that's just me.

Choose him and you will have another 4 years of Trump. You have nicely articulated the reasons why Trump is so popular with his base. But is is also the reason why he is unpopular with everyone else and the reason why 2018 went so badly for the Republicans. The person you describe in the second paragraph will have a hard time being more than a 1 term president. That person will piss off the middle who will start to abandon the party in power. Then, we will end up with another Trump likeness, if not after 4 years then after 8. And this will go back and forth until either someone unifies the country and makes us better or we go belly up. This is all just speculation on all our parts but it is an interesting exercise to see where everybody is at. But it does sound like you are saying that it is your exact candidate that has to win the nomination or you will vote to leave Trump in office.
