Brussels, Belgium -- The European Commission last week postponed until Jan. 23 its formal decision on whether it will more deeply investigate the proposed merger between the German pay TV operations DF1 and Premiere. News reports in Europe last week suggested that the EC will announce that it will take its investigation to the next level.

TOKYO (Dow Jones)--Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. (MC or 6752) said Tuesday it will delay sales of its DVD -Ram drive (digital video disk-random access memory) until mid-April due to a delay in the completion of associated software.

A DVD -Ram is a rewritable disk that can be used in computers, audio-visual equipment, and other electronic products.
