"The violation just didn't register in his mind."

I don't know anyone who saw it and said DD. I knew it went off his leg and didn't think anything of it. Nothing else gets called. I come from the wood backboard era where DD, up and down, carry and travel were all called. I was lucky to get to half court without a violation

I guess you have to give credit to Jerome for acting "normal". Imagine if he just stopped dead in his tracks after that and had to heave the ball at a teammate who was likely well defended. Everyone would be like, why did he just do that? Then they'd show the same footage and everyone would be saying stopping was idiotic since he really had no choice but to keep dribbling and hope the refs didn't notice. Years from now, if UVA does win it all, 99% of us will have either forgotten how UVA did two Houdini escapes in two games or won't care. We all consider buzzer beaters as "it is what it is", and they become lore, so why not freak plays?
