If it's a listed stock it may either be off the exchange on the third market or else the size was to big for the number of bids.

Perhaps the specialist took it in.

Also, it's possible that one house shopped the order to another house. rather than whack the market with size. Could be several things.

In any event, it is both a buy as well as a sell, no? It's just that if it is outside the market range one party needs to buy or sell more than the other party I would guess.
