"Yes I do think it is a losing issue"

So do I. A reasonable global warming bill, OTH, is a winning issue. Speaking of which, I just found out I have access to a lobbyist in Sacramento, thru the Grange. If I can get the state Grange to pass a resolution, there's a possibility we can both submit a bill to the lege to get rid of FF-vehicles, and also get the National Grange to pass a similar resolution..
This is a first draft:

Whereas it has been known since 1896 that increasing the concentration of various carbon-containing molecules in the atmosphere will increase the temperature of Earth,

and whereas humans are extracting and burning fossil carbon, increasing atmospheric concentrations, and therefore global temperatures are increasing
and whereas California is a global leader in the transition to a carbon-free society,

and whereas SB 100, signed into law by Governor Jerry Brown on 9/10/18 requires carbon-free electricity by 2045,

and whereas 41% of our Greenhouse emissions are produced by the transportation sector
arb.ca.gov

Be it resolved that the State of California ban the sale or manufacture of new fossil-fuel motor vehicles by 2043, and ban the extraction, refining, and sale of liquid fossil fuels after 2050.

Really had to call your opponent crazy when you’re supporting GND.

Yes I do think it is a losing issue.

So do I. It's too broad, which means there's something in it for everyone but true believers to dislike.

There are people who are both green and "socialist" and the Green New Deal speaks to both causes. The juxtaposition of the two probably seems natural to them. But the only practical synergy between them is potential economic benefit of more green.

On the other hand, there are at least as many people who are skittish or skeptical about one or the other. The green aspect may not hurt the "socialist" aspect much but the "socialist" aspect likely would turn off many who might be otherwise supportive or at least tolerant of the green aspect. I think the GND does the green cause a disservice while the combining resonates with a more limited cohort.

You do realize the Green New Deal is fashioned after FDR's "New Deal" whereby he made millions of jobs for people when first elected to address the great depression.

They reelected him three times!

History calls him a hero and one of our best. The three Republicans in the 20's, Harding , Coolidge and Hoover caused the great depression and then Hoover who was in at the time refused to help. The Republican mantra was:" let the depression run, it gets rid of the dead wood.

They think the same thing today.

Have you seen our homeless problem or income inequality?

We have to do something. What is your plan?

"You think the Green New Deal is a losing issue??"

Yes I do think it is a losing issue. It's even hosted on the Green Parties website. There is a winning formula for you DNC Candidate running on the Green Parties Green New Deal which is one of the many ways it will be sold. It also has some significant challenges.

We will have employment offices instead of unemployment offices? So government will control labor.

The Green New Deal includes an Economic Bill of Rights, which ensures all citizens the right to employment through a Full-Employment Program that will create 20 million jobs by implementing a nationally funded, but locally controlled direct-employment initiative. We will replace unemployment offices with local employment offices offering public sector jobs that are “stored” in job banks in order to take up any slack in private sector employment.-- gp.org
I think the Green New Deal ensures nothing less then 4 more years.
