I'm confused - isn't Bell Atlantic supporting DSC's development of ADSL chipsets?

The other RHC's are now working with this consortium which uses Aware's DSL standard (DMT) - the "splitter" version (https://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=3209565).

DSC over the past year or so has announced partnerships if you will with both Aware and Westell. Since then, Advanced Fibre Comm (through Aware) has announced basically the same objective of DSC - to produce the chipsets needed for deployment in the phone networks (http://biz.yahoo.com/bw/980120/efficient__3.html).

So where does this leave DSC???? Since Aware is connected now with AFCI, wouldn't that lead one believe that Aware is no longer a partner of DSC and that DSC is now relying on WSTL's standard for the development effort (which in turn Bell Atlantic is pursuing)?

Also, Lucent is pretty confident about their solution...(https://www.siliconinvestor.com/readmsg.aspx?msgid=3202816)

Someone please help sort this all out, specifically why Bell Atlantic (and DSC?) is not part of this whole consortium thing?
