Don and Kevin,

***IBM***

I think it is a drastic oversell if IBM opens 6 points lower after missing by a few cents, in fact I was listening and heard that due to accounting changes the number is actually in line?

I am looking at buying in the money calls tomorrow at the open if it opens at 102 or lower, looking for a quick few $$$ and get out, on a reflex bounce back.

Don do you see any technicals this evening that suggests that IBM might trend lower in the longer than short term range?

Kevin, do you have any thoughts as to a good play here? As soon as I heard it was trading down 6 I became interested in a quick call play.

Don, one other thing, with IBM being treated like this today, wont this have an effect on MSFT and the sector in a whole?

I would like to hear comments befor tomorrow and have somthing in mind.

Thanks!!

E

Donald, My 2 cents. The bottom of the potential trend I thought might form last week never materialized. I am noticing some (vertical) fast stochastic and also RSI oscillations which are getting narrower and narrower (like a compressed spring). I'm no TA expert but when I have seen this in the past, there has been a tendency for a break in the direction which the oscillations are trending, on the companies I am watching they are currently to the upside. So, for short term I would have to say I believe a strong move upward is quite possible but I think there MUST be 1 or 2 days down before this can happen.

Donald,

With earnings season coming to an end during the next 30 days, the Asian crisis not over, IBMs disapointment with the future, Iraq acting crazy again, and what appears to be lower highs on the DOW since the beginning of Dec 1997, I believe the midterm will be down. Just my opinion--- I've been wrong lots.

Peter :o)

Don regarding your peak on DJIA as being 7980, where did you get it. I get the previous peak as 8072.91 as the high of 1/5/98 and then 8209.56 as the high of 12/5/97. Are you using closing prices or highs for the peak.

I consider DJIA in a downtrend now with lower lows and lower highs. On a weekly basis one could draw 2 parallel lines connecting most of the highs and most of the lows since 8/8/97
