Twisted Pair, Re: their pricing is very aggressive

Have you noticed their ASP last Q ? May be they
have gone way too aggressive. Losing money for
each CPU sold and it would only get worse.

Twisted Pair,
AMD last Q, shipped 1.5M K6's according to CEO Jerry Sanders. Thats it.

For this Q, AMD does have a clue, or wont tell how many K6's they intend to ship.

So all those ads, demands etc.. are constrained by that 1.5M, and probably a lot less this Q.

>>At computer sales in my area if you don't get
there early all of the AMD CPU's are sold out and all that's left
is Intel and Cyrix. <<

In the SF Bay Area computer shows AMD, IBM and Cyrix are available after 1 PM, but very few Pentium II's left after 1 PM. Some P200, P200MMX and P233MMX are left after 1 PM.

I've known most of the of the vendors for years and they tell me in private that they sell all the Pentiums and Pentium II they can get their hands on. They don't have a very high regard for the AMD chips. Since these guys are very thin margin folks who have to turn their CPU and Memory stocks over on a weekly basis they have a real feel for the market.

They were the first to tell me about the AMD failures and problems when all the PC magazines were raving about the AMD chips.
