Another way to think of the chess match is that it isn't chess. It's life. While chess was invented as a game of vague similarity in a superficial way, it's not at all like life. And I was a very enthusiastic and champion (in small spheres) player. So it's not as though the analogy is beyond me.

Russia can nuke the king from anywhere on the board or spray some polonium 210 or Novichok here and there and wait for a bishop or knight to land there.

The old idea of China versus USA or British Empire arranging an empire or this gang of males eliminating that swarm of Y chromosome is so last century or more like 19th or 18th century. Or earlier.

There's a major paradigm shift happening like never before.

Shift happens.
