The FISA warrant positively stated that Page was a Russian agent working in Trump’s campaign.

We all know that was false, but put yourself in the Judge’s shoes: What should she do faced with at kind of sworn representation by some very high officials?

Let’s unroll this.

A hearing might have revealed that Page was a former FBI informant. Would knowing that be relevant to the warrant? I’m not sure that it would be.

She could’ve dug deeper into the basis of the warrant.

She could’ve called for an en banc hearing and gotten input from other judges.

I think she might have made a mistake in judgment. My take is that it would require exceptional acumen to see then all the issues that in retrospect seem obvious now.

She’s not nearly as bad as the guy who wrote the Twitter stuff says. Recall that she wrote the 99-page memo blasting the use of contractors. The memo was not in relation to any case, as I recall.
