OT (Hope Kirk doesn't mind another car post, if we are going overboard let us know).

Waiting is wise, at least based on the introduction of the C7, which from what I read during a couple long term tests had all kinds of teething problems, like engine replacements, failing starters, leaking axles, doors not closing properly, and so on. The scuttlebutt I've read on the C8 is that it has already been delayed by some months due to electrical issues. That said, rumors are that there will be multiple engine options, with the base car continuing to use the overhead valve V8, but the interesting part is they are also talking about a new overhead cam V8 coming later, and finally, a pressurized version of that OHC V8 in something called a 'Zora', to be named in honor of Zora Arkus-Duntov. I suspect that one will be 'really expensive' though.

Personally, as I get older I seem to be getting more into 'comfort' and less into 'sport' <ggg>. I've sat in the C7 and it just seemed really tight in there for me, not much hip room, minimal head room, etc. Earlier Corvettes to me seemed roomier. I'm 6'2", so space can be an issue. I've also sat in the 'senior citizen's sports car', the Mercedes SL, and that was a dream, extremely comfy seats, plenty of head and hip room, much higher quality interior, and so on. I've since been investigating used versions of those cars, and see they suffer huge initial depreciation, new ones run 100k and up, and I've found 3 year old used versions with 7k miles on them for 55k. Unless one has money to burn a clean used one is the way to go IMO.

I have one of these which has started to appreciate nicely, might let it go one of these days and get an SL..
