You are joking, right, Jim? I see your point, and I am not sure if you remember, but most of the women in America were very excited the first time he was elected, because he seemed positive on women's rights and LIKED women. In fact, right after he was elected there was sort of a mass hysteria because thousands of women were having fantasies about Billy in their dreams (me included). Everyone was very hopeful.

Then, gradually, most of the women I know who supported him became disillusioned, as it became obvious that he was so SLICK, and that he was a serious sexual compulsive.

I mean, no TRACTION or something!!! Waste of space is the phrase of the evening!!!

Please help... I believe I coined the term "Zippergate." It was on this thread with this post to Carol:

exchange2000.com
followed by exchange2000.com

It started from a reply to Christine on Jan 21, 1998 at 11:39PM as follows: "Christine... the Zipper Presidency. I'm counting on you..."

then I modified it to Zippergate per the above url's and made a point in explicitly using the word to refer to the scandal since then on many threads.

When I went on the world web.. there are no uses of the term that pre-date my use here. Indeed most begin the day after.

There are a surprizing number of sites sporting the term Zippergate, one even sells T-Shirts, another sells itself as a clearinghouse of jokes and commentary.

No newspaper articles that I've been able to find pre-date my creating the term here. What's the point...

One, I think many many many people cruise SI for ideas for investing and for discussion and use elsewhere.. its a seedbed for providing discussion and inquiry elsewhere.. how many places, who knows?

Second, I'm facinated, if my claim is true, at how fast a concept that fits can spread and be adopted into common use. The internet in this case is the vehicle of new word transport, not a bold headline in a newspaper. Just an interesting process and perhaps a claim to fame.

This is part of my question... if anyone can find an earlier dated use please post it here to my attention. thanks.

Jim
