One of the Nixon tapes was just released and it shows Reagan, as governor calling black people monkeys. Reagan was a Democrat who became a republican. He was like many others, including Newt Gingrich. You see, Democrats were becoming the liberal party and republicans were becoming the conservative party. You think or maintain the parties stay the same but anyone who knows our history knows that to be untrue. Regarding your false comment that republicans didn't own slaves, it's not true. Every rich man in the South owned slaves. Most of them were Dems but you're suggesting there were no rich republicans is beyond belief. It's a childish argument. 12 of our first 18 presidents owned slaves. No president after #18 owned slaves because the Civil War ended slavery. Benjamin Burton was a republican slave owner. The Klan was made up of mostly Civil War Vets and had both Dems and republicans in it.
