The new generation values "experiences" over "things"

I think I figured that out 40 years ago... I'll pay to live close to where I work and try to work and live in as nice an area as possible because you only get to do it once.

Senior year in College I used my summer job money to rent a 1b/1b apartment in the lower Berkeley Hills with a beautiful view of the Golden Gate Bridge in the center of picture windows from kitchen to living room. I had a bed that was shorter than I was so I used a drawer tilted on the side to hold my pillow between the wall and bed.. but I had a beautiful view of the Bay, three bridges, to watch sunsets while doing problem sets.... dirt poor and hardly any furniture or "stuff" but I Loved it!

Do I need a really nice kitchen with fancy cars in a big driveway I have to shovel in the winter and run away to cooler states in the summer, or live where the weather is where you pay to go on vacation?

To each his/her own.

BTW, I've noticed that people like Bob and I who really worked our way up and saved and made good decisions and sacrificed... don't have as much patience as the silver spooned for those who take without effort and want us to pay for it.
