Thanks,

Interestingly enough, the battles of Stalingrad and El Alamein took place almost at the same time, Autumn 1942. The second battle of El Alamein was huge for the UK but it was dwarfed by the battle of Stalingrad. El Alamein was fought on heavily defensive lines and was much like WW1 entrenched lines, but the tanks and air cover played a much more decisive role. Fake weak spots and killing zones were much in vogue. Intelligence and deception also played a big role too and the British forces were hugely supplied with modern American tanks and vehicles.

It was then that the tide of war finally turned, but it still took a lot of effort to finish it. Casino was a successful axis defensive strategy, the Russian just blew away the Germans defensive strategy that was totally hampered by Hitlers static directives. A clear case of what too many drugs does to the brain.

It's my view that Hitlers doctor was a key player in the collapse of the Third Reich. Maybe he never intended to, but he helped the allies a lot.
