But for all it's faults the USA is the Bread Basket of the world. Canada's so called standard of living which you enjoy is 80% dependent on the USA. The percent of Canada's GDP the us buys that feeds the Canadian people. The mightiest Nation on earth. And the sole protector of the free world. Had it not been for the USA Hitler would have won. And Japan would have continued their invasion into Canada. They already had established military camps in the Aleutian Islands in preparation. The US built the Alaska Hwy for the purpose of forcing them back home. Not Canada. Canada does not even pay it's share of NATO defense which is 2% of GDP freeloading on the US to pay the cost. So while Canadians enjoy all the privileges you list. it is because the US pays part of our portion of defense. And allows Canada to freeload further with a yearly trade deficit at US taxpayers expense. Holding dual citizenship on either side of the border I see benefits in both countries. The right to bear arms in the US is written into their constitution. It is a good thing. Thank God the fore Fathers were smart enough to understand that. Guns don't kill people. Mentally disturbed people kill people with Guns and many other things from knives , hammers, fires , automobiles, strangulation devices and poisons But they don't ban all of those things. Why not ? The first move of every regime that precedes dictatorship is disarmament of the people. Removal of their weaponry. Cuba, Venezuela, Hungary, Russia , China, North Korea, and the list goes on.
