Bravo Alexa.. perhaps the fight against human instinct isn't necessary on this issue. Perhaps we have to give up trying to control basic motivations and pleasures. Morals and mores have developed out of necessity, to help the tribe survive and procreate. The base unit size for best raising children is two parents, pair bonding and family, then extended family, community, country, world. What kind of world are we ushering in with technology? How will morals and mores survive in tact as it becomes possible to extend individual life spans. How do mores and morals buffet the tide of test tube pregnancies, of single parents, of men potentially giving birth, of cloning and a thousand other permutations of biology that couldn't exist twenty years ago but will... What happens to our sexual energy, do we bottle it up in sixteenth century codes of conduct while guiltily having affairs until we get caught then living in denial? Do we allow humanity and ourselves to express these wonderous feelings and positive potentials in new ways? It will be difficult, it is difficult.. maybe this happening at the top is why we're all grappling with it. Jealousy, hate, protectiveness, rules, social customs, all are up for renegociation in the future. We just can't continue with our heads in the past.
