AG Communication to supply MPEG-2 based videoconferencing systems to Lucent. It appears to be a MPEG-2 over ATM system. Does anyone know whose encoders/decoders they use?

AG Communication Systems to Provide Advanced Videoconferencing
Products for Lucent Technologies

End-to-end broadband video capabilities to be demonstrated at ComNet

WASHINGTON, D.C., Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- ComNet Booth Number 1138 -- AG
Communication Systems and Lucent Technologies have signed a reseller agreement
enabling Lucent to market AG Communication Systems' ATIUM VIA 188(R) video
codec and network management and scheduling software to public and private
network operators. The VIA 188 can be used in conjunction with Lucent's
GlobeView(R)-2000 core ATM switch or Lucent's Multiservice Switch to
simultaneously deliver the highly reliable, scaleable, high-quality video and
data required for distance learning, remote arraignment, telemedicine and
other applications.
Lucent and AG Communication Systems will demonstrate a variety of
applications in the companies' booths (Lucent #1146 and AG Communication
Systems #1138) at ComNet Jan. 26-29. At the show, Lucent will use the VIA 188
to provide high-quality video of Lucent's Network Operations Center -- the
heart of Lucent's "virtual network" -- which monitors network operations. AG
Communication Systems will also demonstrate how the VIA 188 transmits complex
video in compressed, MPEG-2 format over ATM.

"The addition of the AG Communication Systems' VIA 188 expands our data
networking product portfolio and provides highly reliable end-to-end video
solutions to a broad range of customers," said George Foley, director of data
networking service provider market development at Lucent Technologies.
"We're extremely pleased to have the sales and marketing muscle of Lucent
Technologies firmly behind the VIA 188," said Wayne Williams, general manager
of ATIUM products at AG Communication Systems. "We'll be able to broaden our
market access by leveraging Lucent's superior technical, distribution and
customer relationships. This agreement is a major step forward in the
commercial deployment of broadband videoconferencing."
