Thailand

- BEC World (TV company)
- Grammy (Music, Films & Radio production)
- Any of the electronics companies (KCE, Hana, KRP, Delta Electronics)

Indonesia

- Gulf Indonesia and Tambang Timah (but even this is pushing it)

Philippines

- San Miguel

Taiwan

- TSMC (Foundry service for fabless IC design houses - code TSM)

HSBC has a great franchise but will still have to make huge write-offs in 1998 + it still trades at a big premium to book value

Worswick,

Sime Darby is a good pick. I own it. HSBC is a great bank. I will like to buy it at much lower prices. I am looking to companies which are really washed out. If you are looking at banks, consider Bangkok Bank ( BKKPF ).
