I believe KE said also that buyers of sub$1000 may purchase
ZIPs with the money they saved. Seems reasonable.

I would agree that this is a problem. However, I tend to think that most of the sales of sub $1000 computers are to very price sensitive first time computer buyers who don't yet know about Zip.
Also, I don't know for sure, but aren't a large portion of $1000 computer sales additional sales on top of sales of higher (>$1500) priced computers instead of replacement of sales of higher priced computers? (I hope that last sentence made sense--basically I think of the sub $1000 market as new for the most part and not as something eroding sales of higher priced computers)
