Not quite. We can certainly ascertain the rate of change and see that the rate of change in recent times has been order of magnitude faster than before. This is not normal.

So we are back to confusing local weather with global climate? The global average temperatures are not measured by averaging city thermometers. The two major sources are ocean water temperature (no buildings there to affect them) and global observations by satellites across the arctics, deserts, oceans, etc.
