RE: <option reprice in Nov 97 at $24 11/16, >
Doesn't that really bite? Gee, let's just give everyone incentive with absolutely NO risk. Hell, while we're at it, let's go ahead and lower EVERY shareholder's basis to 24 11/16. Oh, that won't work, will it? Where's the incentive in this? OK, maybe they could have repriced them a little lower to give them something to strive for, but weren't they really LUCKY in pretty much ringing the bell at the bottom?

Without a doubt, they should have used some of their cash to buy back shares if they felt they HAD to reprice the options. At least it wouldn't be quite as dillutive to the rest of us. Gee, I wonder who owns the most options????

I hate being this cynical, but it's rainy and cold here in Atlanta and I guess it just seems like the thing to do.

regards,
greg

<<Actually, AT&T WorldNet has been using Linvinston PortMaster 3 for a while to support 56K Flex.>>

Speaking of Livingston (which LU paid $600M+ for), have you been keeping up with MRVC's recent acquisition of Xyplex, who I understand is comparable to Livingston, for only $35M.

This will make MRVC a direct competitor to ASND, COMS, CSCO, etc. on the small end of RAS. They seem to have all the pieces together and their cost structure is extremely low, and MRVC is very strong in Europe, so they can probably compete successfully.

Do you have any thoughts to share regarding MRVC?

The Qwest network will extend from coast to coast by early 1998. By early 1999, we will have lit
more than 125 U.S. cities, and will be operating in Mexico and connected to networks around
the world. Consisting of over 700,000 miles of the world's purest fiber optics, the Qwest network
will offer more carrying capacity than any other long-distance provider.

Maverick,

Imagine what AT&T could do with all of that fiber.
