Eric, I agree with you about the Indonesia problem and I do not expect it to be confined there. One of the main reasons for my bearish view of 1998 and 1999.

Eric- most people couldn't put Indonesia in the right hemisphere let alone comprehend their problems, so its not very newsworthy. I don't see a serious collapse because it is still essentially a dictatorship (ask the people of east Timor, those that are still alive anyway). Another serious issue is the gradual deterioration of the Arab/Israeli peace agreement. This may be the last chance for peace before the PLO resorts to serious terrorism in the region. Iraq is also a mounting problem. If the alleged affair starting causing real problems for Clinton, there would be nothing like a good conflict with Saddam to take people's minds off things. I don't want to sound like those conspiracy nuts, but my point is there are some problems out there. On the other hand the millenium is coming up.... NOT
