>>MU stated that they
are using .25micron for them as oppose to .30 and up by Koreans...but at least you
are doing homework , you just solved the wrong problem.<<

david, can you point me to the release so i can check out the exact wording? i remember this vaguely, i think, but with mu YOU MUST CHECK THE EXACT WORDING as i'll bet money THAT MU MANAGEMENT HAS ATTORNEYS REVIEW ALL THE BS THEY PUT OUT BEFORE DRIBBLING IT TO THE PUBLIC.

in other words, mu may have 1 0.25 line and the rest 0.35. their headline will read, "mu now operates with 0.25 technology and the koreans use 0.30 or 0.35."

remember, "dram demand continues to remain strong." :-)

DavidG,

You are indeed a master at obfuscation. MU's statement makes it clear that they are not using .25 for volume production, and have not even moved completely to .30. They are indeed sampling .25 64mb SDRAM, but there is a wide, expensive gulf between that and full production.

The Japanese and the Koreans (though perhaps to a lesser degree) are indeed producing millions of 64mb chips using .25, and are rapidly ramping that production further as they transition away from 16mb.

We are talking about 16mb chips (not 64mb chips) which is most of MU and the Koreans product line. MU stated that they are using .25micron for them as oppose to .30 and up by Koreans

It is amazing that you are contradicting the statement from the 10Q. What makes you think that MU is lying about the use of .30 micron technology? You have asked other posters for substantiation of statements, and now refuse to believe MU's own words.

What's important here is that MU will have to spend some big bucks to go to 64mb production, and even bigger bucks to become the low cost producer by using .20 lines on their 64mb chips.
