Holly, blaming Reagan on the homeless problem is another one of those silly media cliche's, It's rediculous. What do you think he picked people up and forced them to remain on the street? And there still there now after he's been out of office for 11 years??

Homelessness was primarily created by allot of people addicted to drugs and alcohol, and by the cities enforcement of tougher building codes. Remember flop houses. Well there gone now. Ever wonder why?

Tell me one thing which was deregulated which should have remained regulated? There isn't one. If anything we should be deregulating industries allot faster. Electricity, Water, Gas, and Cable T.V. just to give a few.

Seattle has no elightened homeless program. They just keep electing liberal mayor after liberal mayor and the problem is never addressed in any measurable way. They make wonderful speeches and talk about caring allot but do nothing in the end. Norm Rice was a perfect example.

< He did misspeak when
discussing the school lunch programs, stating that catsup was a vegetable. >

Wasn't that a Department of Agriculture decision under Reagan? The man who gave us "tree pollution". As for Carter, he was an intelligent man (Nuclear Engineer, by vocation), but he micromanaged and could not delegate in areas where he had weak knowledge. No one can be brilliant in all areas and the best presidents seek council on matters that are beyond their ken.

San Francisco proves that if you want lots of homeless bums on your streets, be nice to them. Sounds like they now want to teah this lesson to Seattle.

Reagan did screw up in cutting way back on funding of state mental asylums. Those people bumped up the number of homeless. They weren't in those asylums for no reason.

President Bush? He failed reelection because the economic recovery that had started in his administration was not far enough along by election time for him to win. Slick Willie got the benefit of that.

Nixon was good with foreign policy, yeah, but hung out with the wrong crowd and was loyal to his buddies.

Carter? A bad joke at our expense.
