All that is required is to hold Iran responsible for the actions of the Militias they fund. If one of their outlying militias cause damage. They get taken out plus Iran also takes a severe hit in in their revenue generating facilities. Sooner or later their finances will collapse. They survive on oil production and shipping. Both are very vulnerable. Missiles have accuracy measured in inches. And many are undetectable before they land.
Like it or not in reality Might is Right. Ask those who were at Tienanmen square. If the protesters in HK keep it up they to will learn a lesson they won't easily forget. That is what governing bodies do. Regulate the people for what is considered the good of the mass total. On the world stage Iran is a Cancer in the middle east. Trying to force religious ideals on people outside of their borders.
Politics should be separate from religious beliefs.
It was said Render onto to Caesar "That which is Caesar's" Meaning physical things.
Not the faith & beliefs which is God's That is a personal intangible property of every individual. And should not be forced upon or taken from anyone. Thought history religion has caused more wars and suffering than all other venues combined.

I already outlined my thoughts on this :)

I was happy that Mr. Trump had apparently avoided starting any wars as is the wont of most US presidents of either stripe.

Once he made the Erdogon deal abandoning the Kurds I became wary.. recognizing the Jewish settlement's legitimacy and then pardoning war crimes.. cinched it for me.. something like Solemani' assassination was a logical next step unfortunately..

US should never have been in Iraq to start.. although taking out Saddam in similar fashion to Solemani would not have been a bad plan... saving many many lives on all sides.. The error was thinking that they could contain the ensuing power vacuum... I wonder what unintended consequence will come from this... I'll stick to gardening :)

More likely are indirect actions designed to inflict damage in less obvious ways, probably through the use of various militias. You could very well be right.. The world does not put nuking the crap out of Iran past Mr. Trump... should terrorism occur on US soil.. Ironically any other Iranian enemies could attack the Us ad Iran would be blamed..

I am not optimistic about 2020...
