[LU and DMT]

Lucent will bring several proposals before G.Lite "at the appropriate time," Brizel said. He added that chip sets will sample in the third quarter, and that many system products may arrive before a standard exists....

Bill --

I'm not completely surprised b/c I knew LU had been in talks with TI for DMT. I think those talks fell out, and I don't know if they're going to push ahead with their own or if they're talking to ADI. By the wording of this announcement it appears they're doing their own.

Did you see the IBD this a.m? There's a small notice saying Paradyne will try to upstage the CPQ-MFST-INTC- backed proposals with their own lower-priced release. Should be interesting.

I thinkWill Straus is right when he says there's much yet to be decided. In fact, this year's ComNet may just be the Vatican II of the telecommunications world.

Moneypenny will be there, pen and paper in hand. :)

Later --
