Christine, Yup- A little right of center. From an old DNC analysis I remember that politically the US electorate classifies itself as 13% liberal, 43% moderate, and 39% conservative....

The way this whole thing with Pres. Clinton developed absolutely stinks! Personally I find the power of federal judges, prosecutors, and special counsel now suffocating in our society. Too many wire taps, too much power concentrated in the federal government/judiciary- both groups of unelected and unreachable officials . For e.g do you know that the FBI runs 330+ "routine" wire taps/day in the State of Louisiana? That is 330 wiretaps that are not linked to a specific person or case- just kind of sweeping the airwaves for potential "bad guys". I don't think that's a wise idea. Ever wonder how many fishing expeditions law enforcement agencies are on in your State?

Wiring people and running them into the Whitehouse trying to trip up a major political figure is bulls---.

Now having been in the political process, I'll opine that we as a society are suffocating ourselves/our society with too many "rights"- gay rights reproductive rights, animal rights, civil rights, abortion rights, right to die, right to life, right to privacy, right to know, and my current favorite oxymoron- "alien rights",ha!

As James Madision would note, once you define something as a "right", it is by definition inalienable. Soon if everyone has "rights" society grinds to a halt as these rights conflict. Whatever happened to RESPONSIBILITIES???? We need to pull back and limit some of these individual rights.

For e.g. this whole thing with Pres Clinton would not have occurred if the so-called sexual harassment laws weren't so broadly worded that some redneck bimbo from Arkansas weren't allowed to exercise her "rights" and sue a sitting President over some vague sexual harassment claim! Give me a good trial attorney and a couple of secret wiretaps and I bet that I can make anyone look bad.

And in saying this I am not sticking up for Pres. Clinton's alleged behavior, but find it very unhealthy to immolate major political leaders in order to protect some very obtuse less than mainstream rights of a given individual.....

Sincerely,

Doug F.
