Technology Stocks : VERISIGN -- is the IPO hot? -- Ignore unavailable to you. Want to Upgrade?

When does VeriSign go public? This coming week, i.e., the week
of 26 JAN 98. As yet, the date is not fixed, nor is the price.

I have an account at a Dean Witter brokerage (they are one of
the underwriters), and have begged for as many shares as they
can shake loose from their home office. My broker has no idea
how many shares the local office will be allocated, if any. She
said preliminary pricing is between $9.00 and $13.00 a share.
Present indications are that the stock will come public at the low
end of the range (probably $9.00 to $11.00). If there's significant
interest, the stock could gap up at the open.

We'll see. I recently moved part of my portfolio from a discount
brokerage to Dean Witter for exactly this reason -- in hopes of
getting in on IPO's on the ground floor. I hope my strategy pays
off with at least a few shares. Good luck on this stock and all
your investments.

Dear Fred, This week. To get in on the offering you need an account with a broker who is part of the underwriting group. The lead underwriters are Morgan Stanley Dean Witter; Hambrecht & Quist; Wessels, Arnold & Henderson.
Best,
Francis
