'DSL Lite' to be introduced by Christmas?

techweb.com

At 1.5 Mbps, DSL Lite will be a big improvement over present Internet delivery to all but those owning cable modems. One likely scenario is that most PC users will migrate to DSL lite for Internet access while TV users will switch from cable and analog TV to mostly free digital VSB transmissions (at 19.2 Mbps) delivered by local broadcasters.

True convergence remains a long way off for the vast majority of the 100 million US household. No?

apart from being a dedicated
follower of dsl lite,
with an eye to vsb solution sooner
than later, i simply see an alliance with
them, to the extent it does not
countervail zenith commitment to
broadcasting, and to the consumer,

as casting their lot with eventually
the dominant players in an industry which
will have strange bedfellows. i honestly
believe a harmony could be struck to deliver
untainted content in the areas of concern to
the uninitiated zenith viewer, and not always
within the blur of pc/tv convergence. it will
simply require creative negotiation: the reward
in hardware, beyond tv, is nothing to tsk at.

robert, by way of qualification, i have not thought this
through in the detail i would like, and need...i mean
only to offer it for debate, in its less than ideal form.

thanks,
randy
