Thanks for the thoughts that see the situation in a similar way. I agree it will not be like l929 exactly but perhaps closer than many would like to think. I just read The Great Crash by J.K. Galbraith and the so called new defenses were there then just called something different...instead of halting the market at 250 points they closed it early etc...worth a read. At least then if you had 20 dollars left in your pocket you could get your 20 dollar gold piece for the paper..now you just have some paper and the "confidence" in the government and economy behind it. Confidence can turn to fear pretty quickly. "Bankers do not lend on assets, but rather, on character"-J.P. Morgan So what happens to U.S. bonds?
